Fight Club

So i just finished watching Fight Club not for the first time of course but i still find it entertaining every time i do watch it.......This blog post really isn't about this one movie "and i must warn you i am not recommending this movie to anyone" but in my opinion all good movies have to be in some way like this one. I'm guessing you're wondering "what is so great about it?" and i'll tell you it's not William(Brad) Pitt that makes all movies great and certainly not Edward Norton although they are the reason i watch the whole thing the thing that i think makes this and any other movie a great movie is the ending credits song. I have seen many movies where the film is not the greatest yet the soundtrack is amazing and I've seen others where the film is amazing and the soundtrack horrible but i think to make a movie Great you have to have them all in one....I will admit in the case of Fight Club i don't think the opening credits song is the greatest but when you wrap a movie up with the song "Where is My Mind" by the Pixies that can save any movie. So let me say again this post is not telling you to go watch Fight Club or any movie like it because i said i watched it it's merely explaining my reasoning on how a movie can go from great to amazing in a matter of seconds between the last frame of the film to the ending credits...here is a link to the song that inspired me to write this post and it may not be your cup of tea but in my opinion and you're reading this post so on here that's all that matters is what i say made this movie amazing...http://youtu.be/5iC0YXspJRM...if you have any movies that you think have a song that brings the whole thing together don't be afraid to share.

The Chow

So readers i am now in Afghanistan i haven't really been here long enough to form a legitimate opinion of the place but i have been here long enough to eat my fair amount of food. As i've been here i have been to a few military bases which seem to get smaller and smaller as i go so in turn the chow halls do the same. The first one i was at (camp leatherneck) you had to take taxi's to get to the food and let me tell you it was worth it because the food there was better than food back in the states. The next base although smaller the chow there was just as good as the food on leatherneck and in walking distance. Now the base i'm at the chow hall isn't a hall at all it is just a tent but it's right across from my tent so it's easily accessible and the food there is fine and the drinks are cold. I can only imagine what the chow hall/tent at the next place i go will be like i may even have to share a tent with it. So far as you can see all my time here has consisted of is chow and sleep and so far that's all i have to write about but i'm not complaining.

Insomnia

So recently i have been staying up late nights mostly due to my 2 week vacation from anything Marine Corps related meaning no early early morning pt sessions. Don't get me wrong pt here has it's advantages but 2 weeks off was fine by me the only running i did the whole time was to Seven 11 in the rain so i didn't get as wet as i would have if i had walked. Don't get me wrong i hate running but when it comes to rain i'd rather just run and be kinda wet then walk and get soaked. Over the break i made continuous stops to seven 11 just to do something to keep from being constantly bored and to do something other than just laying in bed trying to sleep. Although i get bored while on vacation it is always nice to spend that time with family and friends, helping out my little sis making our churches youth room look nice by painting the walls and stripping and refinishing the floors. Other than getting that work done over the break i also spent a lot of time playing back yard golf with my siblings, which consists of whoever wants to play getting a golf ball and putter and going out into the back yard to the makeshift hole/cup, then starting with the oldest picking teeing off spot somewhere in the yard. Every hole is a par 5 and we usually get through about 3 or 4 holes before we have to stop for some reason. After playing over and over again in the yard it led one day to a local putt putt unlike any that i had ever been to before. The difference between this putt putt and others i've been to in my life, for one it was indoors, and two it was all black lights. As you can see in the picture it was all creepy so scary that it was even creeping some of the little kids out who were also playing there. I have to admit i didn't really think it was gonna be that great of an experience but spending this kinda time playing games with my brothers and working alongside my sister are things that i sometimes take for granted but they are the kinds of things that i enjoy looking back on and reminiscing about the good times. Although i enjoy the time while i'm at home what i really love is the drive too and from maryland because i get to spend it with the most beautiful girl who i Love and love doing everything with. Taking an * hour drive anywhere used to seem so boring but spending all that time with her time just talking and listening to music is always one of my favorite parts of the journey. I know that the title of this post is only a little to do with the full story but i thought it would intrigue readers to read it. It does fit in with everything though cause as i lay awake at night these are what i think about.

Viper

Recently i returned from the state of California where i spent a little over a month on the Marine Corps Base at Twenty-Nine Palms. It was a new experience for me which to a former Marine lets them know that i'm a "Boot" which is Marine Corps lingo for new guy who is inexperienced. From what i've heard from the higher up's in my company the part of 29 where we were, Camp Wilson has changed alot from when they were first there. There were alot of things that made life not too miserable for instance a small mcx, food stands and even a barber shop so we didn't have to bic our heads every time our hair got too long. So far 29 sounds kinda boring, don't let that fool you it actually is. Well i don't want to make it sound all that bad there were good things about cali, the training had it's ups and downs an up for me was i got to shoot an AT4 which is a 84mm rocket launcher which was a blast literally. We did alot more training than just that but i'm tired and don't feel like writing it all tonight. But as i go along to my deployment this page will be full of stories i hear and witness along with pictures that go along with. This picture is a great example of how my time was spent in California
